The Warm Touch of the Past

After many years of search and research, the time has come to share the fruits of this labour with others.

This website is about the past. It tells the story of our ancestors, their lives, and their achievements, though its purpose is by no means to put them on pedestals. This is a simple story about ordinary people who were born, lived, and died before us—often many, many years before us.

The gallery presented here of our great-great- (and further) grandparents is as complete as it can possibly be. Yet, it will never be truly whole, because many pieces of this puzzle simply can no longer be recovered. So much has been lost to the shadows of the past forever.

Nevertheless, I tried my absolute best!

On this website of ours, you will find history, photographs, and family trees, as well as—only slightly related to the theme—my own stories, short stories, essays, fairy tales, and even books.

And one more thing:

This is a story of the past exactly as I see and feel it. In my heart, it is warm and fragrant! It carries all kinds of scents that have lived in my soul for as long as I can remember. Through them, I can touch those distant times, which feel so close they are almost within arm’s reach.

I am certain that as you read this history of our family, you will feel it too at some point.
